Venti 150: The impossible dream : 2strokebuzz

Venti 150: The impossible dream January 22, 2009 “It’s simple,” we always say. “Why can’t someone just slap a modern engine in a Vespa frame already? Why can’t Vespa just put the 160GS back on the assembly line? Why can’t LML/Stella make a California-legal 250cc Vespa? Everyone would buy it, no matter what they charged!” Well, here’s proof, straight from an ad in Dealer News that it’s not so easy to make a truly-vintage-looking scooter in this day and age: Ladies and Gentlemen of the scooter buying public, witness the Venti 150 (click on photo to enlarge). Hammerhead Offroad. probably looking for a way to get back at Lambretta International for upstaging their offerings ...

My Vintage Motorcycles Photo Gallery by Chip Curley at pbase.com

My Vintage Motorcycles 1. I got my minibike (1963) at 12. I am amazed how far I rode it and never got stopped by the police. My younger brother took it over and it blew up when he added cooking oil to the crankcase 2. My first motorbike (1964) was a Honda 90. I was 13 and limited to 5 horsepower by law so it came with a leather gasket in the carburetor which restricted gas flow. It took me about a week to get it out. Pulling the muffler off made the little 90 sound like a stock car 3. Next (1965) I got a Honda 150 Dream. I thought I was cool and my handle was THE ANGEL as seen on my windshield. Helmets were not required, which was good since my hair was more important to me than a motorcycle. ...

2012 Honda Insight — HybridCars.com

Photo Gallery 41 / 44MPG BODY TYPE: Sedan TECHNOLOGY: Hybrid BASE MSRP: $18,300 When the current generation Honda Insight was introduced in March 2009 as a 2010 model it was hailed as a “Toyota Prius fighter.” Making the best use of the most cost-effective Honda hybrid technology, the Insight was touted as a 40-mpg-plus compact car for less than $20,000 – a figure designed to undercut the least expensive Prius by about $2,000. But Toyota countered with a lower priced Prius. With around $1,500 difference in price, combined with the Prius’s 51 mpg city and 48 highway versus the Insight’s 40 city/43 highway, the projected Insight sales of 70,000 per year didn’t happen. Last ...

Dream Bikes : Red Kite Prayer

Dream Bikes Adam Craig on the Gian TCX Advanced “I saw my dream bike today.” How many of us have said that? How many of us say it a couple times a year? For some of us it is a mantra. It was my 7-year old daughter who uttered those words, without reservation, to my wife following her first trip to the bike shop to buy new handgrips for her 20-inch wheeled bike. “You sound just like your father,” said my wife. Of course. I am a cyclist. The object of my daughter’s desire was a 24-inch bike. It had a single chainring up front and a derailleur in the back – technological progress from her singlespeed. The color was a blue-grey fade, which gave it a look of joyful utility rather ...

Honda Collection Hall Tour — Motorcycle USA

Honda Collection Hall Tour The Honda Collection Hall was opened to the public on March 21, 1998 as part of the 50-year anniversary of Honda. I remember it like it was yesterday. I found an ad in the cycle trader for a crashed CBR900RR for cheap or trade. This would be my first chance to own a true superbike, the baddest of the bad boys at the time. I managed to trade my crusty 750 and some cash for a cosmetically damaged CBR that I got running right there and rode it home. It was my first Honda streetbike and my sole means of transportation for almost a decade. Many of you probably have a similar tale or maybe you’re simply a racing fan but no matter who you are or what you ride, the name ...

The Wiggins Brothers: Andrew, Nick, Mitchell Jr. each making most of their own hoop dreams LAWRENCE, Kan. — An annual youth membership at the Dufferin Clark Community Center runs $15 these days, which means even now it would cost Mitchell Wiggins just $45 a year to keep his boys happy. Sure, his three kids — Mitchell Jr. the oldest, Nick the middle son, Andrew the youngest of the bunch — had other interests growing up. But it was the basketball court that lured them in like a magnet, from an early age each trying to follow in their father’s footsteps. They all three had a dream to follow what I did, said Wiggins, who played for several years in the NBA before finishing his ...

Honda Worldwide History

Exhibited at the entrance of the Honda Collection Hall is this bicycle equipped with an auxiliary engine made from a small, remodeled unit that had served as a power generator for an old no. 6 military radio transmitter (October 1946). This engine marked the origin of Honda Motor, the start of a dream. Yume, the character for dream in Japanese that is seen etched on the glass, is in founder Soichiro Honda’s own writing. Honda’s dreams were always grand, and in that spirit, he boldly took up the challenges before him. I don’t recall it. Not at all. It must have just been an ordinary day like all the rest. Kiyoshi Kawashima (presently Honda Supreme Advisor) was there on that ...
