’75 Honda CR750 Yoshimura Special “From what we were told, Yoshimura built the motor to their full race specs. They fitted their aluminum racing tank and racing saddle. They equipped it with authentic Honda CR750 CR31 carburetors, the CR750 megaphone exhaust and CR750 tachometer. They fabricated a custom aluminum oil tank, used aircraft style oil lines and a heavy duty oil cooler, and fitted an ARD racing magneto. They chose Ceriani forks and triple trees up front, and a Dresda swingarm with Koni air shocks in the rear. The bike rides on amazing Kimtab magnesium wheels and Goodyear racing slicks. Stopping power is provided by Hunt plasma-cut triple discs. Many of the parts on the bike, ...

Rare Racer: 1962 Honda CR72 — Motorcycle…

Rare Racer: 1962 Honda CR72 Here’s something you don’t think about very much, unless it’s not working: your cam drive. As most of us ride modern motorcycles with dual overhead cams, we take for granted the smooth, quiet and reliable nature of the cam chains and tensioners that keep our camshafts opening and closing valves many thousands of times every minute, mile after mile, year after year. It wasn’t always so. Honda is now well-known for making single and dual overhead cam motors, most famously the CB750, but back in the early ’60s the company’s engineers struggled with getting chain-driven cams to run as precisely and reliably at high rpm as the gear-driven equipment on the ...

Kevin Hall’s Pit Bay

Note: Comments below are all conjecture, and open for your own interpretation, but the letters to and fro in the old files sure seem to indicate the conclusion offered. I’ve been digging through bales of correspondence tonight, trying to sort out what was going on back then. It seems the original UK importer and distributor was Maico UK, which was reorganized into ‘Hondis’ in 1962. They got the bikes from European Honda Motor Trading G.m.b.H. in Hamburg. Seems there was a good bit of rivalry between them, with the European outfit playing tricks with spares supplies and making their own back-room deals with British retailers, plus leaking details of upcoming models to one ...

2012 Honda Odyssey — Kelley Blue Book

2012 Honda Odyssey Nobody dreams of growing up one day and driving a minivan. well nobody that we know, anyway. But, like so many things in … life sometimes circumstances simply dictate need. If you’ve transitioned from swinging single to swinging a baby basinet, it’s time to put away the sports car and climb into a 2012 Honda Odyssey minivan. Why? Because in the world of minivan cool, the Odyssey minivan ranks near the top of its class, and with an excellent reputation for safety, resale and reliability, choosing an Odyssey over a Dodge Caravan or Toyota Sienna won’t have you second-guessing your decision. Of course, there are plenty of alternatives to Odyssey, from ...

Honda Civic Diesel 2013 First Drive Car Reviews NRMA Motoring & Services

Honda Civic Diesel DTi-S First Drive It’s taken Honda a while to come to the diesel party and with the release of the Civic Diesel, the company is targeting vehicles such as Volkswagen’s Golf and Ford’s Focus. The Civic Diesel isn’t quite as much of a driver’s car as those models but it’s up there with them in terms of refinement and build quality and class leading in terms of cabin ergonomics and how it utilises storage space. The lack of an automatic transmission might hurt the edgy hatchback a little but as you’d expect the Civic Diesel is beautifully executed, refined, quiet and well built. Despite some tough times of late, it seems Honda hasn’t ...

Honda Dirt Bikes And Their History. Specs On The 2012 Models

Honda Dirt Bikes And A Bit Of History — Specs On The 2012 Range The history of Honda dirt bikes started with humble beginnings and goes way back to 1948 when the Honda Motor Co. was officially founded. This came about when Soichiro Honda . a mechanic by trade, created the company to provide a solution to Japans war-torn market. They were short on money and fuel (ha! I know the feeling!) but desperately needed a cheap and efficient method of transportation. The early days of Honda Motor Co. saw them fitting small engines to bicycles, much like Suzuki. The first ‘complete’ motorcycle that Honda produced was the 1949 Dream D-Type — A 98cc road bike that paved the way ...

The Bike Shed Henry’s Honda CL450 Ginger

Henry’s Honda CL450 Ginger Henry Bell is another home builder from Do The Ton who has taken the bull by the horns to build his own dream ride, and this is his second machine, “Ginger”, built from a 1970 Honda CL450. Here’s how she arrived… And here’s where the vision began… My name is Henry Bell, I live in Denver, Colorado U.S.A.  Been building bikes for the past 3 years and have learned more than I could have ever imagined.  Started with a standard cafe conversion on a 1976 CJ360, dropped her down to below 300lbs, did the exhaust and intake and got her to hit the ton and then some.   Then I decided it was time for more speed, and some off-road capabilities. Having heard ...

Acura vs. Honda — Vol. 188 PicknBuy24.com

Acura vs. Honda — Vol. 188 Honda and Acura are industry names that every person knows. However, not everyone fully understands what sets these two vehicle lines apart. Honda had a very humble beginning. In fact, the automobile giant’s founder initially worked for Toyota manufacturing piston rings. In 1946, the Honda Technical Research Institute was founded and employed only 12 men. Motorized bikes were the early company’s specialty, and the Model D was the first complete unit to be released in 1949. Fast forward to present day and you will see a much different company. A company that has created world-renowned products like the Honda Accord and Honda Civic. The Acura was ...
