Ace takes Royal Enfield performance to the limit This is not your average Royal Enfield Bullet motor. (See end of the article for full caption.) For April Fools Day 2012 I joked that Royal Enfield experts Ace Engineering could soup up NASA rockets to get humans to Mars faster . I was only joking. But the fact is that Tom Lyons and Sumanth Janardhan, creators of the Ace Fireball 535 kits for Royal Enfield Bullets, continue to tackle every challenge imaginable. I want to emphasize that we are not limited to what we put out in kit form, Lyons told readers recently on his Ace Engineering Yahoo board . The kits are simply a way for people to get a system that is tested and set-up in a package ...

2009 Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 500 EFI – First Look A Passage to India to Ride the All-New Enfield, with Bonus Factory Visit. Photography by Jeff Allen The modern retrograde motorcycle pays homage to simpler times that actually weren’t so much simpler. Although many of us love the old-time silhouettes of vintage bikes, modern bikes are where it’s at for trouble-free running and ease of ownership. The strange thing about Royal Enfield is that it has been building mildly updated “vintage” Brirtbikes ever since 1955, but in India. The English factory shipped over its tooling more than five decades ago, and the Indians have essentially been building these classic single-cylinder ...

Royal Enfield 500 Bullet Motorcycle Cruiser

lg+2000_royal_enfield_bullet+rear_end_view.jpeg.jpg When Brit-born motorcycle producer Royal Enfield set up shop in Madras, India, in 1955, it was simply a matter of efficiency. The Indian government had a voracious appetite for the then world-renowned 500cc Bullet, which it used to supplement defenses along the Pakistani border. Native workers were sent to England to learn the art of Enfield. In another decade, cost-effective Japanese competition had all but driven British firms such as Enfield, Norton and Triumph underground. The plant in India, however, was rescued by its resident partner and continues to flourish, producing up to 25,000 bikes a year. Workers simply continued to build what ...

Royal Enfield Bullet – Old Empire Motorcycles Here’s a little piece of motorcycling trivia for you. Do you know why riders in the ’40s and ’50s ended up wearing flying jackets and aviator goggles? Give up? It’s because many of the English and American guys who’d flown planes in WWII took up motorcycling as something to do after the war was over. It not only put a little thrill into their comparatively dull civilian lives, but forming clubs that met and rode regularly was a good way to stay in touch with airforce buddies. So in many ways, the biking culture that we all enjoy today was a product of bored flyboys. And what better way to acknowledge this than to build a bike that’s ...

The quality is good. The Indian team was trained by the parent factory team in 1955 (or ’56, I forget), and they’ve never stopped since. The parent company in England went bust in 1970. Some people buy one and aren’t happy with it, but it always turns out to be people who didn’t do their homework first and didn’t realize what they were getting into, or bought the bike for the wrong reasons. Although it’s new manufacture, they’re still being made (or they were anyway, until last year) by hand the way they were trained over 50 years ago. A lot of people buy one because they like the look, but they don’t understand that this isn’t just a ...

Royal Enfield EFI Bullet 500, Part 6 – Classic Motorcycle Review – RealC…

Royal Enfield EFI Bullet 500, Part 6 Jonathan Roy bought his big single last year and has now clocked up 6000 miles on it. It’s surviving quite nicely although some brackets and bits seem to have suffered when riding on rough roads. ‘Ruby’ my Royal Enfield EFi is now moving nearer to the 6,000 mile or second service stage and is probably just about run in. During the 3,000 miles that have gone under her wheels since I last put fingers to keyboard, I’ve enjoyed a mostly happy riding experience — although the ever-worsening state of Kentish roads and the selection of unrepaired potholes have been causing some irritation, especially since they are at their most dangerous ...
