Triumph Speed Four – with Regulator Rectifier / / Stator / Corroded Wiring

I have been having a few with my Triumph Speed motorbike.

The Problem:

Sometimes I difficulty on starting the bike. I was at a friends house and I could not the bike so I tried my best to it down a hill and put the ignition on and put it gear two and pressing the clutch and turning the throttle a bit whilst the startup/ignition button. After one start tempt the bike straight away and off I went

I then had a similar problem I had to start the bike connecting it to a jump pack. I got the bike and rode a few miles. I noticed the was flashing all the digits on and off and the indicators flashing rapidly even no bulbs had blown. I kept a little more and as I revved the or put a bit more throttle down and speed the speedo and indicators normally again.

I then sat in some roadworks in the UK) and the bike seemed to have with the revs at idle. like it was about to stall. A light appeared on the dash was the engine management light.

I maybe its something serious so was to pull over shortly but the ended up turning itself off I was going along and forced me to over. I could no longer the bike it sounded like a noise which made me the battery was flat which was I was then recovered after 3 hours waiting for a recovery van to collect me and take me 2 or 3 miles to my home.

Unfortunately he had to come from which is about 55 miles so took him ages.

The recovery man it was a faulty battery or a problem the regulator rectifier or a more problem which is the alternator.

I it to the garage I purchased it from Trade Ins” In Poole and had a look at it and told me it was the battery and the alarms flatten the battery so They said they may to remove the DataTool alarm the bike for £45 removal fee. If was not the problem then it would be the and that would be £55.

I I did not want the alarm removed if the appeared to be the issue because I may be to solve this with a The guy replied saying he has very trained alarm installers work for him and that if he couldnt it then I would not be able to. He stated that he removes systems from bikes all the as the boards etc just break. very umm… well

Ok I had my new battery fitted and the alarm was connected working correctly All was fine for a week or two. Oh my warranty did not cover batteries I had bought it 6 months ago. Oh my warranty has just expired week damn!

I didnt to take it back to the garage as seem to guess what the is and not actually fault find.

It had very windy and my alarm was beeping and going off in the night and used it for about another so I thought maybe it would be but no it was perfectly fine. I was then to my dads on boxing day but thought Id go the way through Bournemouth to give the a little more charge and a run. The bike decided to cut out and as I pulled away at some lights.

I tried starting the bike and no click. click. sounds a flat battery.

So a lad pulls with his girlfriend and says do you a push. I was like yeah thanks. He then pushed me I tried to start the bike how I did time. The bike sounded it was back firing and almost but just couldnt get it to start rolling down the hill him pushing.

I then spoke to my dad and he came and connected jump leads to my and followed me home as all the indicators and was flashing randomly and the bike was a bit

I then read the plenty of on the following websites and forums:

I up with an idea to check the rectifier on my bike for any visible to the connectors or corrosion on the terminals I found that one of the yellow from the alternator that to the regulator rectifier was looking a bit from corrosion on the copper and it was burnt brown and looked it may have got hot at some point.

I now purchased a new piece of cable to on and connect to a new spade bit for the connector. I also find some for the terminals to prevent corrosion.

This will be updated I only posted this on the and will let you know how I get on.
