Review: My 2009 Ural

I love getting emails readers. One that I get often is the following lines:

“how’s ural been, do you have I have been thinking buying a new one but worried about 14K on a bike that has a dodgy and I don’t personally have around here to ask.”

Now I’ve owned my 2009 Patrol for 24 months and put on 14,000km, are my thoughts.

Every vehicle has I think Ural’s bad rap started the low quality machines in the 90s and early Every year they The new ones are an amazing improvement pre-2007. Here is a summary of changes 2003 to 2011 .

My Patrol needs more TLC my other bikes due to the shorter intervals, but the maintenance has been easier than my other What would I improve? Add injection and tubeless car tires. more top speed wouldn’t either; it isn’t an interstate It is more of a street-legal ATV.

I to call it my Russian lawn

Be prepared to be social when the Ural ; it attracts attention is commonly referred to as UDF (Ural Factor). Buying a gallon of gas or a of bread can easily take an five to ten minutes as you answer like “what is it”, “a who makes that”, “how old is “where did you get it”, etc.

is a small company that about 650 motorcycles in the USA a year. built 1,100 in 2011 for the world. Urals are made in which means when are out of stock they have to on a boat which takes a month.

I have owned my Ural purchased new two years ago. I it as seen in the crate above. The assembled it. I have had some with my Ural.

It has never me on the side of the road, and it has always me home. Many of the issues I were can be traced back to the I bought it from.

I mistook for knowledgeable people, but I was very and paid for it. They started Urals in the late 90s, but I bought mine they their good Ural Their normal mechanics many problems (see below) due to their inexperience Urals and sidecars.

The original dealer generally my first year of ownership incredibly painful.

I have found a competent sidecar/old mechanic to augment my abilities and warranty support and parts. My experience during my second of ownership has improved. I’ve purchased the extended warranty to the regular two years out to three

Actual top speed on fairings, wind, and hills. had it up to 75mph, but the manual warns going over 65mph for periods

Comfortable cruising is about 60mph with the between 4,000-4,500rpm

55amp, 770 alternator above 2,000rpm.

It about 770lbs wet.

rear tire lasts 5,000km (3100miles), front and sidecar even more. rotation helps. other vary. I expect the Duros to longer. k335s last

2,500km oil changes (1553miles)
