Intro

The 2009 Yamaha Road Star is the backbone of the Japanese manufacturer’s line of cruisers. Powered by a massive 1670cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected 48-degree V-Twin engine, the Road Star line up has more than enough rough and tumble power to satisfy the demands of every type of rider.

The Yamaha Road Star is available in four sub-models, including the Base model, the Road Star S, the Silverado, and the Silverado S. Each of the sub-models features the same distinctive 102 cubic-inch, pushrod-OHV engine, and wide-ratio, five-speed transmission with multi-plate wet clutch and fifth-gear overdrive. This specially designed, narrow belt-driven beast also boasts a super-reliable transistor controlled ignition, with a throttle position sensor linked to the ECU for optimum engine precision and performance at all rpms.

The engine’s power and torque are maximized by its two-into-two exhaust system, with built-in air induction system. The result is a very satisfying throaty, deep rumble, and a very eco-responsible reduction in exhaust emissions. The engine is solid-mounted on the bike’s double-cradle frame for superior rigidity.

The 2009 Yamaha Road Star is a lean and long motorcycle, with a 66.3 inch wheelbase, and low seat height of just 27.9 inches. The low center of gravity improves rider comfort, and ensures a solid and stable riding experience. Built with total rider comfort in mind, the Road Star offers generous legroom and spacious ergonomics with its full-size, floating-type floorboards.

Also attributing to the overall comfort of the rider are the bike’s 43mm front forks with 5.5 inches of travel, and a pre-load adjustable single spring shock on the rear, with a travel of 4.3 inches. The Yamaha Road Star has a highly effective braking system that’s comprised of R-1 inspired dual 298mm hydraulic discs on the front of the bike, and a single four-piston caliper 320mm disc on the back end.

Being a cruiser, the 2009 Yamaha Road Star is outfitted with a very generous 4.7 gallon teardrop gas tank. With the bike capable of getting a reported 36 miles to the gallon, that means your long Sunday drives won’t be interrupted by inconvenient re-fueling stops.

The 2009 Yamaha Road Star is an aggressive performer that provides the rider with a wide array of creature comforts and conveniences. The bike has dual under-seat helmet holders, seat and steering locks, a low-maintenance sealed battery, extensive chrome accents, a very bright 12V 60/55-watt halogen headlight, and plenty more.

The 2009 Road Star model lineup is available in the following color schemes: Base (Candy Red), Road Star S (Raven), Silverado (Black Cherry), and Silverado S (Light Gray Metallic). While the Base and Road Star S models are popular among cruisers, the Silverado models feature additional attributes geared more for the touring enthusiast, including hard leather side bags (hard plastic on the Silverado S), a passenger backrest, a tall windshield, and other options.

New For 2009

The Road Star line of motorcycles underwent a major revision with its 2008 model line. No significant changes have been made to the 2009 Yamaha Road Star model line over that year’s model line.
