Yamaha XJR 1300

Go down to the gym and you will always one, massively muscled and likes to pose in front of the and they know that is looking at them. If Yamaha’s XJR was a I’d hazard a guess it would be just that

Compare the XJR1300 to a modern rep and it’s a bit of a bouncer, it would more at home on the door of the nightclub than poncing down the local lanes! It is a huge bike, it’s and looks brutal, has an enormous engine, twin Ohlins shocks for pure show, and in at a massive 230kg dry.

The XJR1300 is based loosely the old FJ1100 engine which life in 1984. The current has an extra 100cc over the 1200cc version and now puts out a 105bhp and a seriously impressive of all important torque. The advantage of such a well-established engine this is the wealth of tuning accumulated over the years various people.

I hear through the grape that it’s really to get the power output up to a healthy All one needs to do is get a decent set of pipes and the bike and there you go, 120bhp on that will make you to hang on even more you do now! Of course there are modifications and add-ons you can get for the XJR, look in some of the accessory

The XJR1300 is a pure retro it’s based around the old upright riding style requires some serious through the corners. On a modern bike you just have to corner and it’s done, but the XJR a certain amount of forward to do that! Learning to ride and this bike (yes you do to) can be immensely more satisfying riding the perfect line on a steering race-rep, that’s the limits are so much more on the XJR, it’s you that’s in of the bike and not the other way round.

The XJR is much like stepping in time to days when the special was built by Harris and on a Z1000 or GSXR1100, it has the looks and the build of the Eddie Lawson of racer, but has a lot of today’s modern expertise built in. The Rear work exceptionally well, not only look great but do the job of this giant on track, and also have a lot of pose which is not a bad thing really! The end is up rated but still a little on the side in reality, but with a bit of you can get it to compliment the back end —

When it comes to stopping have just about got the brakes in the business, straight the R1. These brakes with one-piece calipers are used to a 170mph superbike, ok so the R1 is much but to stop this piece of metal from it’s top of 141mph is no problem at all. The power is just excellent the R1 set-up and is delivered with a progressive feel.

The overall of the XJR is very good for a bike has a somewhat old-fashioned steel cradle frame. It is a far cry from the of old which seemed to be made a flexible material closely black painted pasta! On corners it will find its own with a bit of movement here and but it’s not unpredictable, and certainly not

Yamaha XJR 1300

It is a very respectable handler with a little bit of a tustle and countersteering and you get round the corners ease, it only gets the more you ride it. Soon you tame the beast and then the fun

The engine is the heart of the bike, it has torque to pull a truck, it like your arms keep getting longer you accelerate on this bike, is until you look at the speedo and your licence is now seriously at so you back off. The best way to this bike is up to about after that you really to hang on, that’s if you haven’t got a on it!

All this said, and even its raining the XJR1300 is still there looking menacing and to go. With massive grunt and an street presence it should be the bike of the decade, but it’s The Fazer 1000 or the Hornet 900 wheelie and corner better the XJR, no the big Yam’s no wheelie and does lack a bit of ground but for sheer looks it has it every

But as I said before here’s a warning — Bikes this can get you in to serious trouble the conservationists amongst us. If you really to decimate the insect population to nil in surrounding area, then get an a pressure washer and a large of visor tear-offs. Bikes this are best enjoyed by men’ (or women!), devotees of the old where fairings are sissy and is king!

Just make you don’t wear an open helmet, and carry lots of towel (reason coming up) you when you go out on summer evenings. Oh and one thing, make sure you your jacket off before you go the pub, … flies more flies, and the tell-tale of … insect parts you on the floor will put off any prospective and believe you me you will on an XJR1300!!
